"and that is why pink ribbons are for boobies." -hank green

Actually, Boys and girls both wore white dresses, and colors were introduced in the mid 19th century,

"The march toward gender-specific clothes was neither linear nor rapid. Pink and blue arrived, along with other pastels, as colors for babies in the mid-19th century, yet the two colors were not promoted as gender signifiers until just before World War I—and even then, it took time for popular culture to sort things out." (Smithsonian magazine,  x)

According to wikipedia :
One reason for the increased use of pink for girls and blue for boys was “the invention of new chemical dyes, which meant that children’s clothing could be mass-produced and washed in hot water without fading. Prior to this time, most small children of both sexes wore white, which could be frequently washed.[46] Another factor was the popularity of blue and white sailor suits for young boys, a fashion that started in the late 19th century. Blue was also the usual color of school uniforms, for boys and girls. Blue was associated with seriousness and study, while pink was associated with childhood and softness.”

Also, considering I just read 15 articles on this topic from varying sources… the one common theme? all after WWII, but STARTED to become signifiers before/during WWI,

but not ONE mention of Hitler. Only American mainstream culture.

In fact, heres an interesting section from Hue, a blog someone is maintaining about the history of colors:
"After WWI, blue was used extensively for men’s uniforms. Therefore, blue became associated as more of a masculine color. From the 1940’s onward, pink was pushed as a woman’s color. "Think Pink" was the marketing slogan to convince women to embrace their femininity. Dressing girls in pink reinforced this role by conditioning with a set of rules that started with little girls, made of "sugar and spice and everything nice."

x

tl;dr?

oh my god are you guys comparing the color pink with hitler without doing ANY background research

ALL SPECULATIONS ON HOW IT BECAME ASSOCIATION ARE MERELY SPECULATIONS THERE ARE NO HARD FACTS

EVEN FUCKING **JEZEBEL** SAYS NOTHING ABOUT HITLER/BEING EFFEMINATE OR WHAT HAVE YOU, THEY QUOTE THE SMITHSONIAN AS WELL

DO RESEARCH YOU BLIND SHEEP

what?

The wheels take impact and stress off your legs, and the position helps your spine, but you’re still doing running motions instead of biking motions, so your legs are getting a good workout, and you can go for longer

nerdy shit aside, iamgine how sick it must be to just let those feet fly into the air and do superman poses down a highway

So it’s basically a draisienne with a five-point harness?
The reason the draisienne didn’t work was because there’s no point in the contraption if you do almost exactly the same thing without it… Now you’re telling me I have to tie myself to a metal bar (giving myself less control of my body) in some convoluted fashion and then walk slightly less?
Sorry but biking barely stresses one’s body after a few trips on one and it only takes 1.5 seconds to hop on one and find the pedal. Above that, each step can take you a long way.
I’ll give it this: you don’t have to deal with chains breaking ever. But you look like an idiot riding one of these atm.
